Cell Phones and Privacy
Prepaid cell phones certainly have legitimate uses such as travelers from foreign countries, people with low income, or even people who don't need many minutes. However way too many people have been taking advantage of the whole no contract/ no trace aspect of these phones. I don't think government should ending prepaid phone services but rather required by law to register their prepaid cell phones so they could be tracked if need be. Prepaid cell phones are a good idea, but there is too much privacy, people need to be held responsible.
Location Tracking
I don't think being able to track your young child or toddler is necessarily unethical, but I do think a child gets to an age where its unfair to not give them some freedom and teach your children to be responsible and honest. People track their pets because there's a high likely hood of them getting lost. I think small children also have better chances of getting lost but also worse, kidnapped. I'm not saying that a teenage doesn't have a chance of being held against their own will but it comes to a point that a kid needs to be given a chance to prove they are responsible. I absolutely would never support a bill from congress requiring ID chips in children under the age of 5. The government has no right telling parents how to raise their children, I believe something like this should be up to the parents discretion. I'm not sure how I feel about tracking elderly people. I guess in the case of the GPS shoes I don't have a problem with it because if someone has alzheimer's and gets lost their loved ones would have zero hints as to where that person may be. All in all I guess this is something that should be considered case by case and only the ones involved should be making the decision.
